Why do my feet hurt in flat shoes?
A lot of flat shoes flats lack any internal structure, which allows the foot to 'overpronate' (roll inward). This stretches the plantar fascia and can lead to heel and arch pain. Vionic flats solve this by building a podiatrist-designed orthotic directly into the shoe, providing arch support and cushioning you'd find in a high-quality trainer.
Do Vionic flats stay on your feet properly?
Yes, our ballet flats, loafers and other shoes in this collection are designed with elasticated top-lines or deep heel cups that cradle the back of the foot. This ensures the shoe stays securely in place as you walk and prevents you having to claw your toes to keep them on.
Can I wear these loafers without socks?
Yes. Our flats and loafers are lined with breathable, high-quality materials such as microfibre or soft leather. This keeps them comfortable against bare skin. For added hygiene, many of our insoles feature an anti-bacterial treatment. This is an antimicrobial and Odorban™ anti-odour top cloth, included to keep your feet feeling fresh during a long day at work.
However, while it's fine to go sockless, we do recommend wearing socks with your loafers where possible. This keeps your feet warm in winter and prevents friction in the warmer weather. Give the appearance of going sock-free by including invisible liner socks and using foot sprays or powder. Also, take a break between wears to air out your shoes.
